Panchayat

Panchayat is an association of elected representatives to carry out the administrative affairs of the Panchayati Raj Institutions. As far as a Gram Panchayat is concerned, it is an important committee that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and holds day-to-day administration. The main elements of the panchayat are: President: Head of the Panchayat. He presides over the meetings and oversees the overall activities of the panchayat. Vice President: In the absence of the President, he performs duties. Ward members: People elected from each ward of the panchayat. Standing Committees: These are sub-committees for finance, development, welfare and health education to facilitate decisions.
